The St George and Southern shire leader 15/3/05 has reported that after inspecting the kogarah school speed camera site with the local member Ms Burton( they forgot to invite me), Mr Costa conceded that Ms Burton had a case for having the speed cameras moved.
Mr Costa said
"This is a classic example of a good policy, where we lose common sense."

I say that there's no common sense in just moving the cameras.

If this area is such a "black spot " that it needed two speed cameras. What has changed in driver behaviour to justify having them "moved".

If moved ,the traffic will speed up and it wouldn't look good on anyone's cv to have successfully lobbied to have the speed cameras taken away and a student gets injured or killed by a speeding motorist.

To have trucks hurtling down the curb lane at 3.00 pm when all the kids come out of school is highly dangerous.

As I said in the post on 17/2/05 "Just the two of us" 4 pages back on the site there should be a safety fence along the eastern side footpath to stop kids accidently going on the road
The RTA can use the fence that nows runs down the centre of the highway, that makes it more of a divided road ,and drivers tend to relax more and be less aware on a divided road.

LEAVE THE SCHOOL ZONE AS IT IS,SPEED CAMERAS AND ALL,AND JUST ADD "FLASHING WARNING LIGHTS" TO MAKE DRIVERS AWARE OF WHEN IT'S SCHOOL ZONE TIME.

I'm sorry if I am repeating myself, but common sense, appears not to be common.

Good drivers WILL slow down, and double, nay triple the fine for those that don't.
