School Zone Santa .Com

To create a little more interest Mrs Santa came along for this morning's school zone time. She was very well relieved.

For those new to the web site, the reason for us being at the twin speed camera school zone /variable speed zone is simple.
To try and highlight the ineffectiveness of this school zone in slowing down traffic.
In 2003/2004 the RTA fined 49.500 drivers the sum of $6.5 million for speeding at this site.
A "speeding" driver needs to be slowed down, but how does it help a school child on the day for the driver to get a ticket 4-5 weeks later.
Flashing lights at all variable /school zones would make drivers aware of WHEN it's school zone time
Good drivers WILL slow down and those that ignore flashing lights double the fine.

I've e-mailed Mr Costa to come and have a look at the Kogarah school zone and his reply is further down the site. (9/3/05/"what are we doing.")

We've slowed down hundreds and hundreds of cars with our "It's school zone time" signs, since school started and made the road safer for the childrenand the RTA/GOV has missed out on revenue ,but then the cameras are not about the money are they?

With help I would have school zone santas at all "black spot "speed camera school zones but as yet our protest, has not had the all important media coverage that would get us the volunteers that are needed.
Everybody seems to agree that flashing lights are a good idea but where's the people power?

We need road rules, but we need FAIR road rules.

Ring the media, write to your member make a fuss don't leave it to someone else.
