Letters @ Daily Telegraph
After I read the aticles about speed cameras I emailed the Telegraph but it wasn't printed this morning.
...................................................................
Dear Sir,
The twin fixed speed cameras at Beverly Hills were mentioned in your article (Minor offence major gain Tues 18 Mar.) and 41,429 tickets were issued there, costing drivers $5.48 .million.
As there is an extra flashing light set on this very long school zone heading north, I assume most of the tickets drivers caught "speeding" were on the south side where there are many side roads entering the zone, and drivers never get to see any helpful flashing light.
I have written to Mr Roozendaal 5 times since last September suggesting an extra flashing light unit opposite Edgbaston rd on the school zone sign that's already there, which would greatly benefit the drivers and pedestrian safety.
But either he can't afford one out of the $5.48 million collected there, or he only takes advice from RTA experts like the ones who cleverly made Epping road one lane at Lane Cove, and who decided that the M5 only needed two lanes.
Regards
Hans Stephens
