Answer-I am advised that the fixed speed camera which the Member refers to is contained within a School Zone which was established in 2002. At 1.05km long it is an unusually long School Zone in order to protect the more than 2000 students at three local schools around the zone.

More than 45 'School Zone' and 'Speed Camera Ahead' signs are already installed on approaches to this School Zone and within this School Zone.

There are three flashing light units for the School Zone on King Georges Road.

The RTA recently erected more signs to complement the existing 11 School Zone speed camera signs.

Additional sign age was installed on side streets and on King Georges Rd on Thursday 30 August this year.

School Zones improve safety for students and are critical to reducing speeding around schools.

More than 99 per cent of motorists do the right thing and observe the speed limit in School Zones.

Any motorist in NSW who receives a speeding infringement notice is entitled to challenge that matter in court.

Any motorist who entered King Georges Road from a side street and felt they were not aware of the School Zone were encouraged to write to the CEO of the RTA for a review at, PO Box K 198 Haymarket NSW 1240.

It is of the utmost importance to emphasis that the safety of school children around roads is of paramount importance to the RTA and the Government and thus all motorists are urged to be ever vigilant when driving around schools.

As this is such an "unusually long school zone, protecting "two thousands students" why are there only three sets of flashing lights.
What about the thousands of vehicles coming into the zone out of Stoney creek rd.
They must all have alert, aware drivers.
