I suggest a half page open letter in major newspapers addressed to to the the boss of the RTA asking why there are signs on trailers warning drivers about new 24 hr variable speed cameras but only on King Georges road at Beverly hills and the thousands of drivers on Stony Creek Road entering the new speed camera zone have to rely on inadequate signs or no signs and no tempory trailer signs.
I would also in the letter ask our Premier Mr Iemma if this is fair, considering what he said about policing at a graduation ceremony recently.
"POLICING IS ABOUT THE EXCERCISING, THE POWER AND AUTHORITY, IN A DEMOCRACY IT'S ALSO ABOUT DETERMINING THE LIMITS OF THAT POWER AND INSURING THERE IS JUSTICE."
How much justice is there when you can run up numerous fines from a speed camera and you don't realize what's happening untill you get the first one in the mail days and days later.
What is the point of fining someone thousands of dollars and taking away his licence because he/she has been caught multiple times before the first ticket arrived in the mail.
One driver 21 times and $5400 in fines.
Had he been stopped by a Highway patrol the first time, he would then be aware of the speed limit there, and not endangered other road users another 20 times.

"They did warn you" 28/07/07
When I first saw the speed cameras being installed at Beverly Hills, coming from Hustville on King Georges rd at the start of the school zone, the RTA had in place a trailer mounted computor sign warning motorists of the speed cameras.
Sadly they "couldn't" find a spot on the left side of the road, so there it was across six lanes of traffic.
Too bad if you are in the left lane surrounded by vehicles.
Today I see they have a sign at the other end of the school zone but were again unable to find a spot for it on the left.
The sign is just visible above the green/blue car.
With no traffic it's a good spot but not with the amount of traffic that's usually there.
It's almost like a game, them v the motorists

There is now also a warning sign on the left (north side) and the cameras are operational.
