SUPERCHEAP AUTO, GREAT RACE, GREAT SALE. SPECIALS CATALOGUE FOR OCTOBER
Well it's Bathurst 1000 time again and what's on the front page of October's Super Cheap Auto specials great race catalogue ?
http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/catalogue-nsw.aspx
4 cans of spray for $10, a saving of $4.36
SuperCheap Auto had in it's TV ads breaks during a previous Bathurst 1000, a special, a cheap deal on spray paint cans.
Why when the race would have a large audience of young males, (and who does graffitti I wonder) would you pick
out of a catalogue of twenty pages, cheap spray paint cans to highlight?
Yesterday I sent in a letter to the editor and this was printed this morning but sadly leaving out a most important line.

From: Hans Stephens [mailto:stephens1510@optusnet.com.au] Dear sir, Rex Of Oatley (“Short and Sharp ”Oct. 4) has noticed an increase in graffiti on Sydney Rail property and asks what happened to get tough on graffiti pre-election promises by the then opposition. Well Premier Barry O’Farrell tried, but his efforts to bring in new laws to help deter graffiti vandals were stymied by the Christian Democrats and Shooters Party. Unless there are real consequences for doing this senseless vandalism, the scourge of graffiti is here to stay. A bit of corporate responsibility wouldn’t go astray either, and for companies to stop using graffitied walls in background shots when flogging product such as cars and clothing. Speaking of corporate responsibility, will there be TV advertising (as in previous years) during this weekend’s Bathurst1000 featuring cheap specials on spay paint cans? This to an audience of mainly young males, some of whom could also be doing the sneaky nocturnal graffiti, why pick this item when there would be so many other products in store to highlight instead? Regards Hans Stephens I love the Bathurst 1000 and will be watching the race, and advertising. Update: The race was run and won, and the TV ads were spray paint cans free... great.
