Thinking outside the square....At Last!
I drove on Taren Pt Rd this afternoon and glanced over to the overhead flashing light I mentioned in my last page, and saw a change of thinking, the school zone sign on the center median strip, now has flashing lights attached.
The idea of only having flashing lights on the left school zone sign "for safety reasons" has changed.
The stupidity of having very expensive lights hidden by bushes on the left hand side of the road, as on the Princes Highway at Kogarah, was pointed out by Peter Olsen and myself earlier this year.
So this spot on Taren PT Rd we have two expensive sets of warning lights, and the very busy long school zone around the corner on the Boulevard has none, but does have lots of schoolchildren.
Because these new lights are prone to malfunctioning, maybe two , one as a spare is necessary.
How many schoolchildren pedestrians walk along this section of Taren Point road during school zone time?
Am I now complaining that there are too many lights, not if the lights on the school zone sign were of a cheaper version.
How much does this ONE setup cost, and how many schools are there in NSW?
