Not again
Modern technology.
Guess what?
This morning at 8.50 this "yard arm" style fancy flashing light unit at Blakehurst wasn't working.
This afternoon at 3.10 pm it still wasn't working when I took this photo.

As you can see the second expensive unit on the sign is working.
Although for the money they cost, these sign mounted lights, don't really stand out.
The lights being solar powered would be limited in power usage I would imagine, so less power = less light.
How's this for an idea.
Hook into the 240 volt power that most schools have, transfom it down to whatever is needed to power lights,.... that can be seen!
No solar panels or batteries needed, and you get visible warning lights.

In todays Leader was this news snippet.

So after the thousands and thousands that these units cost, what have we got?
My good mate Brenton tells me that the school zone lights were also flashing on King Georges Rd Blakehurst on Anzac day.
I ask again, how many of the other flashing light units at the other 100 sites malfunction?

This story was in The Daily Telegraph on Anzac day.
