Keep it simple stupid.
This afternoon there was a bit of school zone common sense on afternoon Talkback on 2GB.
A well known gentleman from Lurgano came on the radio and he has been able to price a school zone flashing light system for $174 that the RTA say will cost them $24.000 a unit to do the same job.
2 lights, a wire running to the school a transformer and a timer.
I agree with this idea, one hundred percent.
Why do you need a Rolls Royce when a Barina will do the job.
The RTA seems to have trouble working out if flashing lights do work.
Maybe a bit of well published private comparisons of "before and after" figures of, with flashing lights, and without might help.
The RTA Flashing light trial finished 10 months ago and still no word on results.
I drove South through the Kogarah School zone at approx 9.20 on Tuesday, keeping a watchful eye on my speedo and after making it safely past the speed camera, I glanced in the mirror and 2 cars triggered the camera.
Would they have been "speeding " if there were flashing lights?
