In this morning's paper Sunday Telegraph (7/8/05) there's a report about a 30yr woman caught behind the wheel( allegedl)y when stopped for a random breath test.
This driver is already disqualified from driving till 2042.
The idea of loosing points and then your license did not seem to have the desired effecton this person.
How many timesin newspaper reports is the line "the driver was disqualified" used after road incidents?
Under Mr Costa the RTA came up with the idea of smaller fines and an extra point for low range speeding offences .
Yea right that'll work.
That's a real deterrent
All that does is make it cheaper to loose your license quicker.
How many disqualified drivers are out there??????
What can be done?
Wheel clamps. You can't drive a car that's wheel clamped.

I'ts just another idea but why wouldn't this idea work?
A golden idea that came out of the road users summit is to increase the fine to make people ( who are doing the legal speed limit)keep to the left lane, so as to not impede the progress of speeding drivers in the "fast" lane. Good one Mr Costa
By the way, I agree we should keep to the left, but it's a bit galling to be doing the right thing, and have all these "important" drivers speed past. Where's the police?
We need more unmarked highway patol to catch these people.
