The Telegraph this morning reported that a driver went to court and beat the RTA on a speed camera fine. It appeares the the RTA couldn't prove to the court that the camera's information couldn't be inaccurate.
To make it a really bad day for the RTA there's trouble with the cameras guarding the toll booths on the habour bridge, so drivers not paying, are getting away with it.
On the Ray Hadely show this morning, poor Mr Paul Wlloughy (the RTA spokesman) had to try and convince Ray and the listeners that there wasn't a problem.
A listener rang in and likened Mr Willoughy to Bagdad Bob.
The explainations Paul proffered tonight on TV news didn't sound too convincing either.
I've got no sympathy for drivers that speed and get caught fairly, except at school zones, where people don't KNOW when it's school zone time.
The RTA wrote me today and the imformation I requested under FOI is "receiving attention"
I'm a bit worried about the next paragraph.......
"The statutory period to determine an application is 21 days, however, we are currently experiencing an extremely high volume of applications,but we will endevour to complete your applicationas soon as practicable"
The "soon as practicable" sounds a bit open ended.
I hope it's not like the e-mail I sent Mr Costa 5 months ago and I've heard no more after a "soon as possible"
What does "statutory" mean?
