Are we taken for ninnys?
I could see years ago (as most people with common sense can), that school zones weren't working as they should and tried to highlight that fact.
I could see in July by standing there at Beverly Hills and observing the traffic flow, that once the new speed cameras were switched on there would be heartache, and there was.
I emailed the roads minister suggesting what I thought could help both the drivers and improve the safety of the children there, which I think is the whole point of slowing cars down, and was ignored.
I could've just said, well that's it, that didn't work, I've done my bit and I'll now take up stamp collecting but no I'll continue.
Questions I would like to ask Mr Roozedaal.
Why it takes 35 days for the RTA to process a fine?
(this is not an isolated case, I have emails)
Why do school zone cameras have to be 24 hour, where are the school children at 3.00am?
Why a warning can't be sent instead of a fine to a retired school teacher a person with a 37 year clean licence a fine for doing 51 one day and 53 the next, in an area she thought was 60km/ph?
Why are there extra school zone flashing lights to cover one cross st going North on King Georges rd Beverly Hills, but not one for four streets entering the school zone heading South?
This zone it 1.1 k/mh long a school at either end and is a divided three lane major rd, why is it ALL a school zone?
After watching traffic even before the speed cameras were turned on I could see extra flashing lights would be of great benifit to drivers and pedestrians and asked Mr Roozendaal if he could help in 5 emails to no avail.
Where is Police discrestion?
An emailer driving his wife's car was stopped at a registration check point and fined $400 because the rego had expired 8 (eight) hours earlier and then was allowed to drive home and was told if he was stopped again to say he was on his way to get the car registered.
He has had numerous venhicles and never had rego problems.
