I see obvious nonsense going on, write in to have an opinion in The Daily Telegraph " YOUR SAY "  letter's page, and the whole point of my letter is left out, sometimes I wonder if it's worth the trouble?

Subject: Acohol fuelled taxes

 Dear sir,

To help curb alcohol-fuelled violence “cheap” wine will be taxed, so a cask will cost $27. Pre mixed drink prices went up for the same reason, and the drunken mayhem continued. Will upping the price of my flagon of sweet sherry (imbibed at home at the rate of one small glass nightly) help keep law and order on the streets, I think not?  What will work is to arrest anyone out in a public place that’s drunk and disorderly, (use taser if necessary,) lock them up and when sober, before release charge them $600 for the use of the cell.   After this experience the average person may think twice before going out to get wasted, and causing trouble. Why punish the majority for the actions of the irresponsible few, or is it all just a smokescreen for extra tax revenue?
