Cup of coffee.
It was announced that the cost of Medibank private for families was going up.
The Federal Healh Minister Tania Pliboseck came on ABC's Lateline to explain the rise.
Don't say, it I thought ....and she did.
She said the rise was about the same as the cost of a cup of coffee.
I had to respond

Subject: Cups of coffee
Dear sir.
Last week Minister Tanya Plibersek tried to trivialise the increase in private health insurance premiums for families, by saying it was about the same cost as a ''cup of coffee''. As your article (?Struggle to stay afloat? 11 Feb.) points out, families finances are already stretched, and $3.00 here and $5 .50 there adds up. To use Tania?s tired old analogy, the cost increase in of my recent green slip was only 13.4 cup of coffee, and because my old work ute wouldn?t pass rego, I bought a similar model (so I can use the canopy and other parts, ) that only cost 808.6 cups. Then there?s the higher cost of LPG to run my ute (about 3 cups a week) and the extra cups it takes to pay power bills, home and contents insurance etc. Well and good if my income keeps up, but less people seem to require my work skills even though the ?worlds greatest treasure? Wayne Swan pontificates that Australia?s economy is much better than other countries. It looks like I?ll have to start drinking tea. Roll on September.

Sorry for some reason I can't upload the clipping properly, but they printed most of my email, and it must've impressed Alan Jones as he read it out on his show.
