The older drivers made news for a while with different ideas on a solution, but then came the mine rescue and that preoccupied everybody and now School zones are again to the fore after a number of accidents outside, or near schools

Talk back radio and letters pages have gone crazy once again, on the RTA/Gov apparent lack of action .
I e-mailed in this letter, which was printed this morning.

...................................................................
In the same paper this morning was the government's answer to the school zone problem.

So now if you go through the Kogarah school zone and forget what time it is, that's $75 and 4 points.
I agree with putting up the penilties but, after flashing lights are installed.

The Lurgano man who is going to put his own flashing lights at three schools is nearly ready to do so.
How will the RTA react?
Will the RTA take down lights that are slowing down cars, which
makes it safer for the kids?
With TV cameras and the likes of 2GB there, it'll be interesting.
A Mexican stand off ?

Yesterday an 80 year old driver is alledged to have not given way at a pedestrian crossing and hit a five year old girl at Mosman.
The driver is to appear in court in June to face a number of charges
Was the drivers age a factor in this accident?
