With much fan fare Premier O'Farrell and road Minister Gay re-announced that there will be another 179 schools getting flashing lights. That makes 1000 schools, one quarter of NSW schools in over ten years. Fantastic !!!

Hopes????? Who is running this outfit the RTA or the RMS or the road minister on behalf of the taxpayer?

Subject: Flashing lights 

Dear sir

It was announced yesterday with great fanfare that another 179 NSW schools will get flashing lights. It will bring the total number of schools where children have the benefit of this proven safety measure to 1000. That’s only one quarter of NSW schools in over 10 years. Why is it taking so long?    Mr. Gay the roads Minister was quoted yesterday as saying that the lights cost $24,000 each, but he hopes the government will get a bulk buy discount.    He hopes???   Someone is having a lend of you Mr. Gay, for $24,000 I can buy a very reliable brand new automatic 4 door car, with enough change to buy a large flat screen TV, and all you get is a circle of LEDs a solar panel and a bit of electronics.  At this rate it will be my great grandchildren that will see the last school in NSW get it’s  flashing lights.
